What do different color flowers mean?

The meaning behind different rose colors

Have you ever considered the power that flowers have? Have you really looked at the smile that always runs from ear to ear when someone receives flowers? Of course it is always good to receive, but how many gifts can you spend so little on, but in return get so much back? Roses, Daisies, Lilies, Orchids, Tulips, Chrysanthemums, Daffodils, Irises, etc...the varieties are seemingly endless.

Whether you give flowers to a loved one or someone you are admiring, flowers have a way of showing that you care. Whether you bring flowers to a funeral or give them on a birthday, flowers have a way of touching someone's heart. Whether you bring a single rose to your date or 48 Long Stems to your wife, flowers have a way of showing that they are on your mind. Whether you offer flowers for a job well done or you offer them as a thank you, flowers can often bring people to tears. Imagine the type of message that you are sending to a loved one if you were to forget to get them flowers for their anniversary? And what would Valentines Day be without flowers? If you are seeking to make a person's day or simply want to make them smile, a gift of flowers is sure to do the trick.

Red roses scream "I love you." They are symbolic of unity and passion and enduring love for someone. Yellow roses indicate freedom and friendship. Pale pink roses express grace, gentleness, and gratitude. Light pink roses express fun and happiness. Deep pink rose express "Thank you." White roses are a symbol of truth and innocence. Coral roses symbolize desire. Peach roses symbolize appreciation, longingness to get together, sympathy, and gratitude. Orange roses symbolize enthusiasm and desire. Black roses symbolize farewell or an ending of a relationship. A blue rose symbolizes something that is unattainable or mysterious. A lavender rose and a thornless rose have been said to symbolize "love at first sight." Rose buds symbolize beauty and youth.

While bouquets are the norm, single roses also carry their own meaning. While single red rose says, "I love you," a single red rose or in any color could simply be a sign of gratitude.

Multiple color roses also have their own meaning. A red and white when given together symbolize unity. Red and yellow roses given together symbolize happiness and positive feelings. White and yellow roses presented together symbolize harmony.

Next time you want to give flowers, make sure that what you are giving represents how you truly feel. You don't want to give red flowers to someone you only see as a friend, because if they like most have studied the meaning of rose colors, they may mistake it as a sign that you want to escalate the relationship. At the same time, while it is alright to give yellow roses as a sign of friendship...yellow roses with red tips are said to symbolize falling in love with someone. So, avoid confusion, find the right roses and remember that you never need a reason to give flowers. Surprise that person and show them how you feel. There will be times that you want to say how you feel and the words may not seem right, in those times roses can communicate so much better than you might have ever thought possible.
